LOST IN THE HOUSE – THE HEART OF JESUS PART TWO

“Or suppose a woman has ten silver coins and loses one. Doesn’t she light a lamp, sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it?”
Luke 15:8

The parable of the lost coin is unique in that it wasn’t lost out in the wilderness or far from home—it was lost inside the house.

This gives us a challenging insight: you can be in the “house,” surrounded by the things of God, and still be lost. The coin hadn’t disappeared into the world; it was right there, lost in the house.

Many people attend church regularly, participate in religious activities, and even serve, but deep down, they’re spiritually lost. They’re present but haven’t experienced the heart change that comes from a personal relationship with Jesus. They’re like the lost coin, hidden right in plain sight.

Jesus shared this parable with the Pharisees and religious leaders, who were “in the house” but spiritually disconnected from God’s heart. They thought they were close to God because of their religious practices, but they were missing the point of grace, mercy, and a genuine relationship with Him.

The same can be true for us today. It’s possible to be involved in church, to know all the correct answers, and still not be truly connected to God. You might be doing all the “right” things but still feel empty or distant. The good news is that God is actively searching for you, even in the places where you think you’re hidden. He’s lighting a lamp, sweeping through the circumstances of your life, and calling you back to Him.

If you’re feeling lost, even in the middle of church life, know that God sees you. He’s pursuing you with love and grace.

Don’t let yourself stay lost in the house.

Let God find, restore, and bring you back into a vibrant relationship with Him.
