THE GREATEST MISSION FIELD MIGHT BE NEXT DOOR

“Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar.” 1 John 4:20

Many of us love talking about global missions– and we should! But too often, we’re willing to fly across the world while ignoring the person who lives a few feet away.

According to Best Places, only 55% of Cobb County residents (where I live) affiliate themselves with a religion. That’s not just a statistic– that’s my mission field!

1 John 4:20 cuts deep. If we say we love God but can’t love the person across the street, we’ve missed the whole point of the gospel.

Loving your neighbor means more than waving from the driveway. It means living out your faith in real ways– being available, being intentional, and eventually being bold enough to share the difference that Jesus has made in your life.

Our motivation isn’t guilt. It’s love. We love because Christ first loved us. And when that love takes root in our hearts, it begins to overflow– into conversations, meals, prayers, and moments of real care.

You don’t need to be a preacher. You don’t need to have all the answers. You just need to be willing to take time to show love.

Prayer:
“Jesus, help me see my everyday spaces– my home, my workplace, and community– as part of my mission. Help me love my neighbors well and represent You with grace. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.”
