“I will say of the LORD, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.'” Psalm 91:2

There are times when I really have to wonder about all of us in the human race.

We’ll do some of the scariest and most idiotic things without giving it a second thought; while other times, we’re scared to death of something that just might be the best thing we’ve ever experienced.

For example, think about how many people we blindly trust with our lives every day: pharmacists to fill the right pills on a prescription that we can’t read, pilots we don’t know to fly us to the right destination, and even engineers and road construction crews to build sound bridges that carry the weight of hundreds of cars stuck in traffic.

Yet, so many people have trouble trusting in God.

Why is it so hard to trust God?

The common argument is, “Well, I can’t see Him, so how do I know that He’s there?” But do we see the engineers who designed the bridge? Do we know the pilots? Not usually.

And yet God, our Creator who loves us more than anyone, who even sacrificed His Son for us to have forgiveness of sin and eternal life, in HIM we find it difficult to trust.

It’s amazing. It doesn’t make sense to trust imperfect men and not to trust a perfect God. So, for the Christian who’s struggling with their faith, I challenge you to look back on your life. Throughout all the ups and downs — where was God? Where did He show up when others let you down? How did He provide when the situation appeared bleak? How did He comfort the deepest of pain?

Don’t walk away from God simply because “you can’t see Him.”

God shows up in more ways than we think.

All we have to do is look.
