WHAT DO YOU THINK?

“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” Philippians 4:8

Cognitive theorists tell us that you and I generate over 6,000 thoughts per day.

Now, our thoughts may be true or false, gracious or offensive, pure or impure, admirable or shameful. Whatever our thoughts may be, many people believe that we’re not in control of what we think. After all, our thoughts just seem to randomly fly in and out.

But that is not true. We are in control of our thoughts and it’s vitally important that we do.

Why?

Because our thoughts shape us in ways we have only begun to imagine.

The Bible makes it clear that our thinking and our hearts are inseparably linked, and the condition of our hearts affects our thinking. This makes purposeful thinking very important.

Today’s scripture says, “…whatever is true…honorable…pure and admirable…think on these things.”

Ask yourself this question: “Would it bother me if anyone could read my mind?”

Well, guess what? God can read your mind. And He sees into your heart.

Thankfully, He can also help us control our thoughts.
