TIME TO TURN ON THE LIGHT – DAY THREE: THE LIGHT THAT TRANSFORMS

August 24, 2025

From a sermon by Bryant Wright, Founder

“So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts.” Ephesians 4:17-18

The Bible’s metaphor of light and darkness isn’t just about understanding right from wrong.

It’s about a profound transformation that occurs when one encounters the light of Christ. The Apostle Paul talks about the futility of mind and darkening of understanding that characterizes the old life without God (Ephesians 4:17-18). Jesus’ light brings more than clarity—it brings new life.

Man, did that ever happen to Paul! What a literal light he saw on the road to Damascus – that was so bright, he was blinded for a time. It was the light of Jesus.

This spiritual awakening is contrasted sharply with the state of our world. Despite technological and scientific advances, many people still live without knowledge of Jesus’ transformative power. They experience the “futility of mind” Paul described: an endless drive to achieve – to be accepted, in hopes that the search for meaning will satisfy. It never does. Jesus, the Light of the World, offers a radical departure from this cycle, promising answers and a new way of being.

To live in Jesus’ light is to experience daily renewal. As we follow Him, the shadows of greed, injustice, and despair that often cloud human judgment are dispelled by the brightness of His presence in our lives.

This transformation is also visible to others; just as a city on a hill cannot be hidden, a life lit by Christ’s presence becomes a beacon of hope and a testament to the transformative power of His love.
