SIGNS OF THE END TIMES

October 28, 2019

(Jesus said) “All these are the beginning of birth pains.” – Matthew 24:8

We live in a fearful world. Today, the world has finally begun to seriously consider the dire consequences of nuclear weapons in the hands of unpredictable North Korean leader, Kim Jong Un. From rogue nations to rampant terrorism to global warming –  reasons to fear are everywhere. But here’s the irony: with all these apocalyptic scenarios consuming the news, one topic is missing from the conversation – what the Bible says concerning the apocalyptic events at the end times. Even Christians can fall into this trap, showing more interest in the secular apocalyptic scenarios than examining what Christ and the prophets say about the final days.

In the book of Matthew, Jesus discussed this very topic with His disciples after having stunned them by talking about His upcoming death on a cross, followed by His resurrection from the dead. Needless to say, they were paying close attention to what Jesus had to say about the future. So what did Jesus say about the end times? What are the signs?

Jesus speaks of an increase in fake messiahs, wars and rumors of wars, natural disasters, and increased persecution of the Church. Jesus describes these events as birth pains, coming slowly and irregularly at first, but increasing in intensity, pain and regularity as the birth gets closer.

Are you paying attention to the signs of the end times? The signs are like birth pains, intensifying and increasing in frequency with every generation. One day Jesus is returning. Be sure you are not caught by surprise. Be ready.
