LOOKING FORWARD TO THE FUTURE PART 2: THE URGENCY OF THE GREAT COMMISSION

July 07, 2024

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Matthew 28:19-20

The Great Commission isn’t just a suggestion; it’s a divine mandate given to every church by Jesus Himself.

We are called to go into all the world and preach the gospel to every person, making disciples from all nations.

What is the Gospel? It is the Good News that Jesus died to pay the penalty for our sins and then rose from the dead to give us victory over death.

In a world that is increasingly hostile to the message of Christ, the urgency of the Great Commission has never been greater. There are still billions of people who have never heard the name of Jesus, and time is running out.

As followers of Christ, we have been entrusted with the most powerful message in the world—the message of salvation and eternal life through Jesus’ death and resurrection. Let’s not hoard this message for ourselves but share it boldly and courageously as the Holy Spirit guides us.

The Gospel is “the power of God unto salvation for all who believe” (Romans 1:16).

Let’s take up the Great Commission challenge with passion and urgency, knowing that eternity hangs in the balance for those who have yet to hear the good news.

Tomorrow is Part 3 and the final devotional in this series. Don’t miss it!
