LOOKING FORWARD TO THE FUTURE PART 3: THE DIVERSITY OF HEAVEN

July 08, 2024

After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands.”
Revelation 7:9

Heaven is not a place of uniformity but a celebration of diversity.

In Revelation 7:9, our scripture verse for today, we glimpse the multitude gathered before the throne of God—a multitude from every nation, tribe, and language.

The word “nation” in Greek is “ethnos,” from which we get our word “ethnic.” “Nation” is really every people group.

This vision of heaven reminds us that God’s love knows no bounds. It transcends cultural, ethnic, and linguistic barriers, uniting believers from every corner of the earth in worship and praise. And we don’t lose our racial and ethnic identity. Diversity is the beauty of God’s creation of man—all made in His image.

As we strive to fulfill Jesus’ Great Commission, let’s embrace diversity and celebrate the richness of God’s creation. Let’s reach out to people of every race and background, knowing that heaven will be a place where every tribe and tongue is represented.

There will be great diversity in heaven, yet no divisions—only unity in Christ. Let’s work towards that vision on earth, building bridges of love and reconciliation across cultural divides and reflecting the diversity of heaven in our churches and communities.

It brings us a taste of heaven, and it will be good!
