“Men of Israel, listen to these words: Jesus of Nazareth was a man attested to you by God with miracles, wonders, and signs which God performed through Him in your midst, just as you yourselves know.”
Acts 2:22
“Why doesn’t God perform miracles today?”
I get that question a lot. And if we’re honest, most of us have wondered the same thing at some point. We read about seas parting, the blind seeing, even the dead being raised — and we wonder why our world doesn’t feel as miraculous.
Here’s the good news: God hasn’t stopped doing miracles. Not at all.
In the early days of faith history, God often used miracles to jump-start belief. When Jesus came, His miracles weren’t just random acts of kindness. They authenticated who He was: the Son of God– just like Peter preached in Acts 2:22. But after those days? God didn’t suddenly retire from the miracle business.
The truth is, He’s still moving– we just don’t always notice. Sometimes we chalk it up to coincidence or human effort. But think about it: the healing that had no medical explanation… the financial provision that came at the exact right time… the forgiveness that felt impossible until it wasn’t. Those are the fingerprints of God.
And let’s not forget the greatest miracle of all– salvation. When someone puts their trust in Jesus, God takes a dead heart and makes it alive. That’s bigger than any physical wonder.
So maybe the real question isn’t, “Why doesn’t God perform miracles?” Maybe it’s, “Am I paying attention to the ones He’s doing?”
Why not take a few minutes today to remember a time God answered a prayer or worked in a way you can’t explain? Write it down. Thank Him. And the next time doubt creeps in, look back at that reminder.
Because in these dark and difficult days, we all need to remember: God is still in the miracle business.
