ANOTHER CERTAINTY IN LIFE

March 04, 2016

“In reply, Jesus declared, ‘I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.'”  John 3:3

In November 1789, Benjamin Franklin wrote these words: “In this world, nothing can be said to be certain except death and taxes.”

We realize one of those certainties each year as we face the deadline for filing taxes. And, someday we will all face that other certainty because for every life, there is death. In fact, the stats on death are 100%. Even Jesus had to face death.

Although Franklin correctly identified those two certainties, there is a third one he failed to mention. No one has ever received the gift of eternal life AFTER they died. Not one! If you have not received eternal life in this life, then when you die, it is too late for you to receive it. God made it easy for us. He sent His Son, Jesus, to die on a wooden cross for our sins. Then, three days later, He rose victorious from the grave, in order that we might receive eternal life.

We have no control over two certainties of life – death and taxes. But we have complete control over the timing and outcome of the third.

If you have not accepted this gift today, what are you waiting for?
