“The infant will play near the cobra’s den, and the young child will put its hand into the viper’s nest. They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain, for the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the seas. In that day the Root of Jesse will stand as a banner for the peoples; the nations will rally to him, and his resting place will be glorious.” Isaiah 11:8-10
ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN
Jesus will establish His Kingdom on earth when He returns. What will this kingdom look like? Instead of corruption, Jesus’ kingdom will be one of justice. Pain, violence, abuse and selfishness will be no more. Jesus, as righteousness personified, will make us right with God in how we live on earth.
In Genesis, we read of perfect harmony in creation. Adam and Eve had the perfect marriage. Adam had the perfect job. The environment and even the animal kingdom existed in complete peace and harmony. Everything was as it should be, until their original sin poisoned mankind and shattered that perfect world.
It’s clear our world is unsettled and longing for the day when storms will cease and famines end; a day when humans and animals live in peace with one another. Jesus’ second coming promises this dream come true. What a wonderful day that will be!
For the follower of Jesus, cling to this hope for a better tomorrow when today’s struggles seem too much. If you haven’t put your faith in Jesus, begin getting to know the One who promises peace and hope today AND the assurance of a perfect world when He comes again in the future.
