The 4th of July is a time to reflect on the privileges and responsibilities of being an American.
But this is not an easy day for today’s America when it comes to values, the breakdown of the family, materialism, sexual immorality, and crime. We must stop trying to do what is right in our own eyes and begin doing what is right in God’s eyes.
It’s the key to God blessing America, and we all need to consistently pray for it.
I believe it’s time for another refresher course. It’s a bit long, but please take the time to read it and reflect on how our nation has begun to detour from the intentions of the signers. Here is a portion of the “Declaration of Independence” that was adopted by Congress on July 4, 1776:
We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.
