“Or suppose a woman has ten silver coins and loses one. Doesn’t she light a lamp, sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it?” Luke 15:8
In our daily routines, we often become blind to the treasure right before us.
It’s not until something important is lost that we realize its value.
The woman in Jesus’ parable might not have thought much about her coins—until one went missing. Then, it became the focus of her attention. She lit a lamp, swept the house, and searched until she found what was precious to her.
This happens in our spiritual lives, too. We can get so used to our routines—going to church, saying prayers, going through the motions—that we lose sight of the deeper treasure of our relationship with God. It’s easy to become spiritually complacent, even when we’re actively practicing our faith.
Sometimes, it’s only when we experience loss or hardship that we wake up to the treasure we’ve been missing all along.
The truth is, we’re often blind to what matters most—our connection with God. But He’s never blind to us. Like the woman who noticed her missing coin, God always knows when one of us is lost. He recognizes when our hearts aren’t fully engaged and seeks us out. He shines the light of truth into our lives, sweeping through our circumstances to bring us back to what really matters: our relationship with Him.
Have you been blind to the treasure of knowing God personally?
Have you drifted into a routine, forgetting the profound value of a relationship with Him?
If so, know that God is pursuing you. He sees your worth and is eagerly calling you back to Himself.
