“Jesus said, ‘But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will be falling from heaven, and the powers that are in the heavens will be shaken. And then they will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory. And then He will send forth the angels, and He will gather together His elect from the four winds, from the farthest end of the earth, to the farthest end of heaven.'” – Mark 13:24-27
I learned about the Second Coming of Christ as a child in Sunday School. One thing that puzzled me was hearing that everybody would see Jesus as He arrived. This just didn’t seem possible because I knew the world was round. And there’s no way those of us in America would be able to see Him if He came again somewhere in the Middle East. The earth would block our view!
Well, that was before we were able to witness live, international news events breaking anywhere in the world! With the development television broadcast technology, and now with the worldwide coverage of the Internet, that passage of the Bible is easier for my finite mind to understand. Does that mean the Internet is the means by which much of the world will see the Messiah when He returns? We have no idea how that will happen, because God’s mind is infinite!
But my question about seeing His return is not nearly as important as, “Will you be ready for His return?” The next time you see Jesus — be it upon your death or upon His return — will it be a joyous reunion, or a moment of stunned realization that you missed your chance? You can be sure of a joyous reunion if you know Jesus as Savior and Lord.
Please, if you haven’t already asked Jesus to become Lord of your life, do it before it’s too late.
