BLESSING RECEIVED – BLESSING SHARED

April 28, 2023

“The Lord had said to Abram, ‘Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you. I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.’”  Genesis 12: 1-2

We’ve all seen Facebook and Instagram posts celebrating an exciting new car, job, or recent weekend trip, but often the posts don’t mention being grateful.

Here’s a tip: don’t forget to add the #blessed humility check before you click “post.”

We’ve all been guilty of the “humblebrag” in one way or another. Today, social media has made it almost too easy to compare the successes of others and “humblebrag” about what are really the “blessings” in our lives.

When we choose to follow God’s call in our lives, blessings will follow.

Think about it. The ultimate calling in life is to follow Jesus. It makes us right with God. We are forgiven of all our sins and receive victory over death. The call to follow Jesus leads to an abundant and meaningful life. This doesn’t mean that we never experience stress or difficulty. Rather, through every twist and turn of life, whether good or bad, happy or sad, we have continual fellowship with Jesus. And ultimately that leads to greater blessings.

If you’ve said “Yes” to Jesus, you’ve already been blessed over and above anything you could ever deserve. But remember, God blesses us so that we can be a blessing. Blessings aren’t to store away but to share.

If we’ve been forgiven much by God, we need to generously forgive others. If we’ve been given much, we need to give generously to others in need.

The next time you’re feeling #blessed, ask God how can you use that particular blessing to become a blessing to others.

Then you’ll be blessed again!
