“Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.” – 1 Corinthians 13:6-8
Tuesday, September 11, 2001.
There’s no doubt that anyone who was awake on September 11, 2001 remembers very clearly what they were doing, where they were, who they were with, and what they felt when the towers fell.
Do you remember?
Were you watching television?
Were you on your way to work or school?
For the thousands of lives lost to the tragedy of 9/11, most of the people were just like you and me – normal, everyday people going to work, making a living, and taking care of their families.
Many reading this might not have been born yet and they ask, “What happened?” “Why did it happen?” As painful as it may be to recount, it’s important to teach each generation that this is a country built upon, “In God We Trust.” And not just as a saying, but as a country that truly trusted a Sovereign God.
The Apostle Paul reminds us in 1 Corinthians 13:6-8 that “Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.” Jesus Christ is that – He IS Love.
This is what all the men and women who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, taught us: that we, as Americans, all became unified on that day,
For the victims of 9/11, the distinction between race, creed, color, or religion became non-existent that day and the weeks and months to follow. It was out of LOVE for life, God, and fellowman that all the victims of 9/11 helped one another, even unto death.
Twenty-one years later, we know we will never, ever be the same and that we must never, ever forget.
