WHO WAS THE FIRST SURGEON?

September 05, 2017

“Then the Lord God said, ‘It is not good for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for him.’ And out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field and every bird of the sky, and brought them to the man to see what he would call them; and whatever the man called a living creature, that was its name. The man gave names to all the cattle, and to the birds of the sky, and to every beast of the field, but for Adam there was not found a helper suitable for him. So the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and he slept; then He took one of his ribs and He closed up the flesh at that place. And the Lord God fashioned into a woman the rib, which He had taken from the man, and brought her to the man.” – Genesis 2:18-22

Did you know that God was the first surgeon?

What?

It’s true. After God created Adam, He gave him a beautiful place to live, plenty to eat, and tons of pets. Amazingly, they all lived in perfect harmony with each other and with him, as well. But God looked at Adam and decided it wasn’t good for man to be alone. So, being the first anesthesiologist, He put Adam into a deep sleep, and being the first surgeon, He removed a rib from Adam’s side and He created woman to be Adam’s partner, a helpmate. Do you see what the Lord was doing? Then He became the first father of the bride. He brought Eve to Adam! Thus, God was also the first matchmaker, and He’s still the best one today.

Then our super creative God gave Adam and Eve the first opportunity to enjoy His gift and the invention of sex. God’s Word says, “For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become ONE FLESH.”

Wow. God is pretty amazing. One man. One woman. For life.
