“… whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things." Philippians 4:8

Man has all sorts of ways to express thanksgiving to his god(s). Have you ever heard of the Moon Festival in China … or the Pongal Festival in India? What about Sukkot in Israel or Kwanzaa in Africa? These are all celebrations of the harvest, or as in America, a time of Thanksgiving. Most of these events do not focus on the origin of our blessings from the One True God, but they do show that men of all religions owe a debt of thanksgiving to God.

Thankfully, we can express thanksgiving to the One True God through knowing Jesus Christ. Scripture gives us direction on true thanksgiving that encompasses all manner of life. Instead of being influenced by the increasing negativity of our world wherever you may be, how about trying this exercise over the next few days? Deliberately focus on what is true and honorable, not the deceit and corruption that is all around you; dwell on that which is right and pure refusing to taint your mind and heart with anything less. Seek out that which has good reputation, those things that are good and excellent … they are there, but so often they tend to be masked by the noise of life. Spend your time being thankful … in praise to the God of the Universe Who is in control yesterday, today and forever. I think you’ll find your countenance, your attitude and your demeanor will be much more pleasant within yourself and to those around you when you “dwell on these things.” There is just something about committing your thought-life to the very characteristics of God.

Right From The Heart is indeed thankful that our Great God knows exactly where you are and the particular circumstances you are encountering even at this very moment. We are thankful that He is a Sovereign God, yet a personal God that desires a personal relationship with each of us through His Son, Jesus Christ. And with that relationship comes the promise of His care, love and forgiveness. In this season of thanksgiving we are thankful to God for you, and in the words of Paul, I too, “thank God for my every remembrance of you.”

May the Lord of all Hope bless and keep your minds and hearts this day.

In Christ,
