“Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people …” Luke 2:10

Our world is inundated with bad news. Seems like everywhere you turn …television, radio, the internet, newspapers and even discussion around the water cooler … is saturated with bad news. It doesn’t seem to matter whether it is in your local social circles, nationally or internationally, there seems to be a predominant emphasis on the negative. Consider the safety in our neighborhoods, the growing political divide among world leaders, cyber-attacks creating uncertainty between nations, rogue nations flexing their military muscle and continuing challenges to the biblical Israel. It can easily make one weary, overwhelmed and even uncertain.

But there is good news. Moses tells Joshua to “be strong and courageous” when facing a new challenge; King Ahaz was fearful of threats by his enemy and Isaiah assured him, “it shall not stand nor shall it come to pass.” Isaiah then introduces the idea of Immanuel, which means “God with us.” And that is true even today … God in Jesus Christ was, is and always will be with us. He said in His great commission, “I will always be with you even to the end of the age.”- Matt 28:20. Even though we will experience hardship and loss in this lifetime, our faith and trust in the sovereignty of God will ultimately prevail. After all, eternity is a long, long time!

Are you afraid of what might happen in the days or years to come? “Do not be afraid,” God’s got this! He is in control and turns the hearts of kings as channels of water. Despite what the world can throw at us, the believer is nestled beneath the wings of the Lord. That’s the joy we can experience during tough times, yes, even through persecution.

The believer should have a quiet confidence in Jesus Christ. He is Who He says He is, and we can trust that. So if you haven’t given your heart to Jesus, what’s stopping you? Chase the fear with a new found trust in the One Who will certainly reign over eternity. The Book of Acts assures us that anyone who calls on the Lord will be saved. There is such freedom there. Real fear comes from not having that most important decision in your life nailed down.

Right From The Heart is determined to continue this platform of good news around the world. Thank you for your interest and for your support. May the God of peace fill your heart and life this very day.

In Christ,
