That scripture packs a punch! When you and I genuinely confess and proclaim that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, God, in turn, abides in us … and we abide in God. The word “abide” means “to dwell” or “to inhabit.” Imagine the God of the Universe living within our very spirit. So what does it mean to be “in Christ?”
Imagine you are a clear glass bottle, open but empty. Now picture the ocean in all its vastness as Jesus Christ. The ocean has movement, energy, power and depth. You accept and confess Jesus Christ as you are immersed in the ocean waters. The ocean immediately fills your bottle as you settle into the clean, sandy bottom as your new station in life. The water is obviously unlimited on moving in and out of the bottle as you are now subject to the ocean currents, yet the bottle remains intact and in its original form. What a picture of our life in Christ! We are “in” the vast depths of Christ while at the same time He is “in” us. Our “bottle” is transparent to the Christ within us yet we are the same person … just filled with the abiding love of God.
There is so much more than “believing” there is a Jesus. That’s just head knowledge. James 2:19-20 reminds us that even the demons of Hell know that …
I truly hope you will ask yourself this question. Do I trust Jesus to be the One He says He is? Confess and accept Him at His Word. Our goal at Right From The Heart is to bring awareness to all the world’s empty bottles … there’s a big, big Ocean out there!
We’d love to hear from you. Email us at rfth.org and have a blessed day!
