Specific numbers get stuck in our heads—an old address, a childhood phone number, etc. We pray the number ‘316’ will not only lodge in your brain but also seep into your heart and transform your life. It’s that powerful of a number.
You see, John 3:16 is one of the most well-known verses in the Bible and summarizes its central message.
It begins with “God.” The world’s religions tell us what we must do to get to God. John 3:16, however, tells us what God has done by coming to us. This indicates we can’t work our way up to Him.
Out of His great love, God took the initiative and sent His Son, Jesus, to die on the cross for our sins and conquer that death through an empty grave. Chances are, you’ve probably heard that before.
But it’s not just knowing about Jesus that changes our lives.
We have to believe in Jesus.
‘Believing’ means we place all our trust and confidence in Jesus. It means we give up control and let Him be in charge.
He leads.
We follow.
Maybe you’ve grown weary of doing things your way, which may have only led to pain, frustration, and brokenness.
The beauty of John 3:16 is that Jesus’ offer is available to ‘whosoever.’ And that’s not just you and me. That’s everyone on the planet.
