“For there are three that bear record (witness) in heaven; the Father, the Word (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit, and these three are one.” – 1 John 5:7
The Trinity is a Biblical concept of God that has confused men for 2000 years. It is important to recognize that we don’t believe in three Gods. We believe in one God in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit, always in harmony with one another. The Holy Spirit will never guide us to do something that is contrary to the commands of God.
Here is an example of someone saying the Holy Spirit led in a direction contrary to the commands of God. In 2004, there was a USA Today headline declaring, “Gay Episcopal Bishop Says Holy Spirit Led Us.” The article went on to quote the new priest as saying that, while he genuinely regrets the pain this caused some believers, he saw no reason to repent because “the Holy Spirit led us.” Now, my friends, when pseudo-spiritual leaders give credit to the Holy Spirit for guiding man to do something that God says is evil, this is nothing but blasphemy of the Holy Spirit.
God loves all sinners. He sent His Son to die to pay the penalty for all sinners. The Holy Spirit convicts us of sin and the need to repent and receive God’s gift of salvation through Christ. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit are always in perfect harmony. Everything the Holy Spirit counsels us to do will be in obedience to the commands of God. The Trinity is about the perfect harmony of one God in three persons.
