“The word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword.“ – Hebrews 4:12
Every new vehicle has one. It’s found in the glove compartment of your new car. It’s an owner’s manual. If you thumb through it, you’ll see everything you need to know about how to care for your vehicle: how to read all the signs on the dashboard, what warning signals mean, and how to use the new, hi-tech “infotainment” touch screens. It’s all right there in the owner’s manual.
But here’s what is amazing about these owner’s manuals: hardly anyone ever reads them. In fact, I bet some of you reading this haven’t looked at the owner’s manual even once.
Well, human lives are a lot more complex than any automobile. And God, our Designer, has given us an owner’s manual. It’s called the Bible, the Word of God. Yet, for most people, this owner’s manual is also never read. Inside this manual is our make and design, and all we need to know to live our life to the fullest.
Here’s what is really sad. This wonderful owner’s manual, this written Word of God, has the power to transform lives. It points us to the One who transforms: His name is Jesus, the ultimate Word of God. We are directly dependent on this Word to have the perfect picture of Jesus.
In other words, we don’t worship our owner’s manual (the Bible); we worship our Maker and Creator, God in Christ!
