How’s That Working for You?

July 16, 2011

“Look in the scroll of the Lord and read: None of these will be missing, not one will lack her mate. For it is his mouth that has given the order, and his Spirit will gather them together.” – Isaiah 34:16

Have you ever noticed how much “self-help” information we have in our society? There are shelves full of books, radio programs, CDs, DVDs, and numerous talk shows that urge you to take a look at who you are and then change yourself by your determined will.

So, have you tried using some of that information and find you’re still discouraged by repeating the same old habits? As Dr. Phil would ask, “How’s that working for you?”

Well, I’m sorry, folks, but there are just some things that “self-help” can’t overcome – things like disease, overcoming certain sins, and most of all, death.

But I have good news for you. God has a plan for us that goes beyond our abilities. It’s something supernatural. It comes through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, who can change us from within – where we can’t change ourselves. As a bonus to that faith, He promises us victory over death, and eternal life. If you really want to help yourself, look beyond yourself to the only One who can save you and give you the ultimate victory – Jesus Christ.
