In Tom Wolfe’s book, Hooking Up, he writes, “‘Sexual revolution’ is a rather prim term for the lurid carnival actually taking place in the mightiest country on earth…an estimated 50% of all (web) hits are at sites purveying what was known as ‘adult material.'” No doubt, the statistics are even greater in 2012.

The Sexual Revolution of the 1960s, aided by women’s and gay liberation movements, have made for greater acceptance of casual sex, or “hooking up”, on school campuses. Children as young as nine already know that hooking up means to have a sexual experience. That’s astonishing to me! While many celebrate the freedom to hook up, others are expressing concern for safety and health.

No doubt, America’s sexual standards are not what God had in mind when He invented sex. Sex is His idea, but for only one setting – in the context of marriage between a man and a woman. It’s difficult to live by, and is radically counter-cultural, but God loves you and wants the best for you. Do you have the courage to trust Him in this and every area of your life?
