Here’s a Theological Shocker

“Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away.” – Matthew 24:35

Now, this may come as a shock to you: Heaven – as it is today – is temporary! I know that statement may rattle you, but I’m just quoting Jesus Christ. Listen to what He says in Matthew 24:35. “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away.” Now Christ could not be clearer. Heaven is temporary. That does not mean that when you die you don’t have eternal life. If you know Christ in this life, you begin an eternal relationship with Him. And even though heaven, as it is today, is temporary, you do not lose that eternal life. Your relationship with Jesus Christ is unending; it can never be lost.

So you may wonder, how can heaven be temporary? Well, in Revelation, Christ says that after He returns, the new heaven and the new earth will be one. So, eternal life does not stop with Christ, but the heaven as it is now is temporary. As incomprehensibly wonderful as heaven is today, the new heaven will be even greater. Don’t miss it!
