“He who is not with Me is against Me…”  Luke 11:23a

Church pews often fill up whenever there is a great crisis.

Earthquakes, devastating hurricanes, terrorist attacks…all prompt many to seek comfort and protection from their Creator. But realize this: You will be grossly disappointed if your motivation for coming back to God is simply to escape danger. God does not promise that we’ll escape danger or even death.

Whether it’s a terrorist attack or a heart attack, whether it’s a plane crash or a car crash, we will all face death.

Jesus made it clear that there is no middle ground. We often like to think we can remain neutral—that we can admire Jesus, appreciate His teaching, and postpone making a decision. But Christ never offered that option. He said, “He who is not with Me is against Me.” Every one of us must decide what we will do with Jesus.

Come to the Lord with a spirit of repentance that says, “Lord, I realize how much of my life has ignored Your will and focused on my own self-interests. I come to You now with a repentant spirit, asking the forgiveness and salvation of Christ. I want to get things right with You from here on. I want to do things Your way, through the teachings of Scripture.”

Being ready for the hereafter is the best way to live for today. When your eternity is settled, you can face the uncertainties of this life with confidence instead of fear. God never promises a life free from hardship, but He does promise His presence, His peace, and the assurance of eternal life to those who trust in Christ.

So what’s it going to be? Are you with God or not?

Because when it comes to Jesus, you’re either in or you’re out.
