A Woman’s Need to Feel Beautiful

February 14, 2011

“Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.” – Ephesians 5:25-27

You ask a man about how he fell in love with his wife and most every response will begin this way: “I saw her.” Men are drawn to beauty. This is why women focus so much on fashion and beauty, because women want to feel beautiful, especially with the man they love.

Even God’s Word, in describing the relationship of Christ to His church, where He is the husband and the church is the bride, speaks of Christ’s church in tones of beauty – radiant – without wrinkle or any other blemish.

But, there is more here, both for the church and women. In Christ, women are given a gift that grows and grows with every passing year, when the woman is dedicated to Jesus. It’s called “inner beauty.” A radiant beauty from within. It reveals the secret of why some former Hollywood beauties grow ugly with age and Godly Christian women grow more beautiful with age.

All women want to feel beautiful. All wives want to feel their husbands see them as beautiful. Obviously, making the most of natural beauty is important, but don’t miss the true secret to radiant, lasting beauty that comes from knowing Jesus.
