A Live Appearance After Death

February 08, 2008

“Reach here with your finger, and see My hands; and reach here your hand and put it into My side; and do not be unbelieving, but believing.” – John 20:27

In the movie, The Sixth Sense, Bruce Willis plays a psychiatrist who works with a young boy who sees dead people. The movie stirs the viewer to feel the horrifying fear of the young boy. Seeing a dead person would frighten anyone. In that light, it’s little wonder the disciples of Jesus were initially terrified when He appeared to them after His death. They had no illusions about His death. They had been hiding in fear of the authorities who might kill them if they were found to be followers of Jesus.

The authorities ordered them to stop preaching the heretical nonsense, but they could not stop telling what they knew to be true. All but one died a martyr’s death for proclaiming these facts. Death caused them no fear.

After their initial fear, they found peace. They knew He was God, and they devoted their lives to sharing this Good News and their faith in Him. So can we.

No event in history is more important than Jesus’ resurrection. Do you believe it?
