"Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials… James 1:2a"

America celebrates the month of November as a time of remembrance and thanksgiving. The Pilgrims and a group of Native Americans came together in Plymouth, Massachusetts in 1621 to share a common feast of the harvest between their two people groups. Certainly, there had been hardship . . . sickness, malnutrition, difficult weather and so many other unnamed obstacles . . . but for this time there was joy celebrated in the midst of difficulty. Thus began the tradition of Thanksgiving in our land.

Scripture challenges us to be joyful in the midst of our various trials today. Obviously there will be difficulties and problems, it's just part of living . . . but there can be a deep-seated joy when our heart is anchored in Jesus Christ. Happiness is more of a temporary emotion in each of our lives and can be fleeting; joy is that blessed assurance that God is in control and His faithfulness to us is promised.

The mission of Right From The Heart is to share the encouragement of God’s Word to a world that is constantly bombarded with trial, hardship and challenge. True joy is knowing where one’s eternity will be spent after our time in this world has come to an end. True joy is feasting in thanksgiving with Christ-followers from all people groups of this wide world in the Presence of the King of Kings, the Creator of All, the Almighty God. True joy is knowing Jesus Christ in a personal way. Experiencing that joy is our own decision. It cannot be coerced; someone else cannot make the decision for us; we cannot do it for ourselves. It takes a Savior and a simple confession of our faith in Him for Who He is and what He has done for us.

In the coming months, I will be releasing another book entitled The Stage is Set, describing how the events of history are “lining up” in preparation of the Second Coming of Jesus. For the believer in Christ, it will be a time of reward and joy. For all others it will be a time of trial, judgment and torment. Our mission stays focused on helping as many as possible “rejoice” when Jesus comes again.

Question. What is your joy based on? Take a moment and be sure. If we can pray with you for greater joy, please let us know at www.rightfromtheheart.org or at our prayer site, www.rightfromtheknees.org. Elevate thanksgiving in your life this season!

In Christ,
