““They began to discuss with one another the fact that they had no bread” - Mark 8:16-17

Picture this … a group of friends had just left a large gathering of people, 4000 to be exact, setting sail on the Sea of Galilee and realized they had no bread to eat. That seemed to be a reasonable concern as the journey could be lengthy and potentially difficult. But there is more to the story … as there generally always is.

For you see at the large gathering they had just left, Jesus had been teaching and preaching to the multitudes. Soon those 4000 people were hungry, too. So Jesus took 7 loaves of bread and a few fish that were available and multiplied it such that everyone on the hillside was fed and 7 full baskets were left over! It was a miracle.

And now this group of men in their haste had left without any provisions for their journey. The irony of this scene is that Jesus the Christ … this same Jesus that just fed 4000 people only minutes before … is sitting in that very boat listening to these concerns. He had to be shaking His head in disbelief. In fact, Jesus responds to His friends, “Do you not yet see or understand? Do you have a hardened heart?”

You and I can be so much like those disciples in that boat. I dare say every one of us has witnessed some miraculous circumstance whether we credit Jesus or not. Then we turn right around and bemoan the fact that something is not right in our lives. We forget the blessings we have experienced and allow doubt and fear to dominate our current situation. We need to rest in the fact that Jesus is right there in the boat of life with us. He has proven Himself trustworthy. He has promised to be found by us when we genuinely seek Him. He has also promised never to forsake or leave us. He is the Bread of Life … totally satisfying, completely sufficient. If we would only rest and trust in that fact!

I want to encourage you that Jesus is Who He says He is! But He doesn’t force us to trust Him. He allows that decision to be a deliberate act of our own will. The very purpose of Right From The Heart Ministries is to make Him and His Truth known. There could absolutely be a miracle waiting to occur in your own heart today! See Him. Understand Him. Soften your heart to His very Presence. He is right there in the boat.

In Christ,
