And what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God? - Micah 6:8

Life can be complicated! Every one of us are experiencing an ever increasing level of complexity in the world. There seem to be very few simple solutions anymore. Architect Mies van der Rohe famously coined the phrase, “less is more” in referring to his clean, simplistic approaches to building design. Scripture provides us infinite and timeless wisdom that can indeed simplify our view of life. The prophet Micah captures this sentiment in stating three simple things the Lord requires of you and me … “do justice, love kindness and walk humbly before your God.” Three simple but straightforward instructions each of us can implement immediately in our lives.

“Do justice” is simply doing the right thing. We should not try to rationalize right or wrong but just do it! Doing justice is an act of our will. Next, we should “love kindness.” You remember the Golden Rule … do to others as you would have them do to you. The hard charging former CEO of General Electric, Jack Welch, said, “… failure is never a time to criticize, but a time to encourage.” That is excellent advice. Be kind to one another. And finally, “walk humbly before your God.” Being humble is not walking with your head down, but more with your attitude bowed before the Lord. It is a level-headed knowledge of your strengths and weaknesses. Humility puts others before yourself. Isn’t that exactly what Jesus did for you and me? He came to serve, not to be served. He humbled Himself to die a humiliating death on a cruel cross because of your sin and mine. Our salvation and an eternal life with Him is possible because He rose from the grave!

That’s the simple message of the Gospel. Believe it. Trust it. Live it. Share it. Right From The Heart is but another tool and vehicle to convey that Truth to a very complex world. Be encouraged and keep it simple!

In Christ,
