"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." - Genesis 1:1

New Universes

The Big Bear Solar Observatory houses the world’s largest telescope and it is producing exciting new images of space. Scientists are seeing new galaxies and their excitement is contagious, because there’s so much more to know and explore! But, how do these new discoveries affect our view of God? It reminds us that science, in most cases, is a friend of God in explaining and unveiling the incredible greatness and stories of God’s creation.

Do we ever need to fear science? Absolutely – when science makes itself God – when science feels it is greater than God’s Word and Biblical morality. For science can produce great evil and destruction. Science gave us nuclear weapons, chemical warfare and who can forget Hitler’s Nazi doctors’ experiments on human beings?

Science is at its best in explaining the wonder of God’s creation and helping us use that creation for good. Science is at its worst when it makes itself out to be God – unanswerable to God – and great evil can result. Science, like all of us needs to remember, “In the beginning, GOD…”
