I once read about a head coach in the NBA who drifted from God. He was dabbling in Buddhism, Zen, and other different things. He told a reporter that when he went back to his father’s church, at times it felt like the preacher was preaching directly at him with a message about the need to repent and to be saved through Jesus Christ.
The reporter asked, “Well, how did you respond?”
He said, “Well, I just hardened my heart until the service was over.”
I cringed when I read that. It’s such an honest, graphic description of how the majority of the world responds to the Good News of Jesus Christ. Many just harden their heart one more time because they’re more interested in doing their own thing than in following God. But the Bible tells us, “Today if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts”.
I urge you, don’t harden your heart again. Instead, choose to trust Christ and follow Him today and forever more.
