God is in the business of bringing life out of death. Nowhere is this seen more clearly than in the resurrection of Jesus Christ who offers us life if we follow Him. In the Gospel of John, Jesus says, “I am the resurrection and the life, whoever believes in Me will live even if he dies.  And everyone who lives and believes in me will never die.”  Do you believe this?

The essence of the Christian faith is Christ’s death on the cross—dying for our sins, paying our penalty so that we could be forgiven and made right with God.  But that’s not all. Being resurrected—fully dead, buried in the tomb, and resurrected to new life, God gives us the ultimate example of bringing life from death. And when a person decides to put their trust in Christ and accept this gift of new life – a spiritual rebirth occurs. The person moves from being spiritually dead, separated from Christ, to spiritually alive with the indwelling of the Spirit of God– moving from death to life. However, far too many people are still living in spiritual darkness; they are living spiritually dead.

The reason why comes down to really knowing God. While many may believe a lot about Jesus and even read the Bible – until we know God personally, we remain spiritually dead. Because God sees life not just from the physical perspective, but also in terms of the spiritual. Jesus in particular is very clear on this concept: we must be spiritually reborn. We must allow God to take us from death to life.
