A TRIBUTE TO BILLY GRAHAM

March 02, 2018

“But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.”

Galatians 6:14

(Billy Graham’s life verse)

On February 21, the world lost a great Christian when Billy Graham died and graduated to Heaven. No person in all of history shared the Good News of Jesus Christ with more people than he did. Certainly, thousands are Christians today because of his ministry. He’ll have incredible joy in eternity visiting with people that he led to faith in Christ. Yet, in reflecting on his life, the quality that I came to respect most was his faithfulness. Faithfulness to God and God’s calling on his life. With all of his gifts, he could have had enormous wealth. He was offered powerful positions in government and turned them down. I’m sure he faced incredible temptations to compromise his faith. Yet, he and his team stayed above reproach; not only respected by Christians, but people of other faiths, and even people with no faith. Today, as his body is being laid to rest next to his loving wife, Ruth, I thank God for his life of faithfulness, and for those of us who follow Christ, may all who come behind us find us faithful, as well.

Oh, may all who come behind us
find us faithful,
May the fire of our devotion
light their way.
May the footprints that we leave,
lead them to believe,
and the lives we live
inspire them to obey.
Oh, may all who come behind us
find us faithful.
