You Are Somebody

"Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered." - Luke 12:7

A young girl confidently introduced herself to her new second grade classmates. "My name is Martha Bowers Taft," she began. "My great-grandfather was President of the United States. My grandfather was a United States Senator. My father is Ambassador to Ireland." She then puffed out her chest and proudly declared, "and I am a Brownie!"

We all enjoy having status and most of us would like to use that status to enhance the work of the Lord. Unfortunately, many of us think we are not significant enough to be used by God for great things. We might say, "Oh, I'm only a janitor, or only a repairman, or only a housewife." We think that if only we had a more prestigious title - such as doctor or professional athlete...or even Brownie...God could use us to do mighty things.

Perhaps the prophet Amos thought that way when God called him to serve. "After all," he could have said, "I am only a shepherd. Who will listen to me?" But instead of questioning his status, he obeyed and became a powerful voice for God.

Remember, with God there are no "onlys." No matter what you perceive of yourself, God sees you as having potential for great service.

You are ot "only", you are what God created you to be. If you feel differently or that the Lord is working on you, go with that, be your best. I am"only" a housewife , raising four children. What a tremendous job that is! - julie

We are seated in high place with Christ Jesus. Where ever you are What ever you are doing God's Glory,Love,Mercy and Grace will still work through you and in you. You are not "only" a anything. You are a child of the Most High God. God will use you and pour into you and through you. You are important to Him. You are a VIP. (Your) Name is written in the Book of Life. You have the best reservation at the best table ever.Your Father has taken care of everything. - Mary Ellen

Thanks, Mary Ellen, for your comment which is so inspiring. I always remember that people are created in God's image therefore there is much potential good in us if only we accept Jesus and are devoted to following Him and glorifying God. We who accept Christ as Savior are the adopted brothers and sisters of Jesus. Abba and Jesus and the Holy Spirit love us and draw us to accept Jesus. Being one of God's creation, I pray to try to live up to being made in His image today. - Janice

Some of the least and smallest things that we say or do touches the heart of another individual that needs to hear or see this. God uses us in these and many other ways. You never know when you are being the only Bible some people will ever read! - PATTI
