More Objections To Christianity

"...that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them." - Romans 1:19

One objection to Christianity is that Christ is the only way to God. That raises another question: If Christ is the only way, what about all the people who live in remote areas of the world who have never heard of Jesus? Will they be damned to hell?

That's a good question. I do know this: the Bible teaches us that we have a loving and just God. Is a just God going to condemn people who never had an opportunity to hear of Christ? They certainly can't help that. But in the book of Romans, chapter one, Scripture does say every person will be accountable to God with the knowledge they have. Let's just trust God to be fair.

Remember, you have heard of Jesus, and because of that, you're responsible to choose whether you're going to follow Christ or not. When you do choose to follow Christ, you can join with other Christians in getting the Good News out to those who have never heard. It's Good News all need to hear--that Christ is the way to know God.

I thought all had sinned come short of the glory of God. Doesn't that mean all people deserve death/hell/condemnation? So why are we worried about God dealing unjustly with some poor savages in a remote part of the world? Do they not stand condemned? Or does God make exceptions? What about babies and little kids? Are they sinless? - Erik

To be saved you first have to realize that you are lost. This comes by being told that by some who is saved and can show them the scripture about how Christ died for their sins. Eric, until someone reach the age of accountability and knows they need to be saved then they are shielded by Gods love. God does not make exceptions but he does make provisions. How about you have you accepted Christ love yet and asked him into your heart? There are a lot of us still praying for you, and remember you can run but you can't escape Gods all seeing eyes and love. - Jerry

This age of accountability you speak of, where is that in the Bible? Or is that something invented by man? - Erik

Erik, I will consider your questions as sincere and I am hopeful you have grown beyond battling God through this website. Yes, we all, each and every one of us, have sinned and fallen short of the righteousness that God requires for us to be connected to Him. That is why we need Jesus to fill the gap between us and God. Those who have accepted Jesus into their hearts know the joy of abiding with God, the joy of the hope of heaven, and the joy of being a part of a community of believers. We are commanded to share the Good News and we want to because we want others to know the joy and also we do not want to see anyone miss their chance at heaven and to be condemned to hell. All people are made in the image of God, He made us equally although He used His creativity to make us beautifully different and each unique. It is up to God to decide how, when and where He will draw someone to know Him, and Jesus as their Savior. If He makes exceptions then that is His business since He's in charge. Babies and little kids are born into a fallen world so they are not immune from sin although they may sin in their small ways without being aware of it. It is when they become aware that they have acted wrongly that it would be considered the age of accountability. The term may not be used in the Bible but it is an understandable concept which is logical to use under the conditions given of an infant or child who has not yet developed an understanding of the world they came into. Erik, I am just curious, what does it mean to you that people care enough about you to pray that you may come around to fully accepting Christ as your Savior so you can know our joy? Bless you, Erik, in your seeking to know God as He is and to accept Jesus even though it runs counter to your nature to do so. - Janice

Age of accountability doesn't exist in the bible as stated, but its implied. The verse I believe the age of accountability statement comes from is Mark 10:14. The questions that Erik asks, are valid questions. We as believers need to be challenged and that is exactly what Erik does. I think Erik is just being the devil's advocate, but I could be wrong. - Clint

God does not make exceptions but he does make provisions. A person cannot be saved untill
they know they are lost. A baby or a small child is under Gods protection untill they come to the point in their life that they realize that they need a saviour, at this point then they have to accept him or reject him. We know what happens with both of these choices, heaven or hell, the choice is up to the person under conviction. God bless and have a good day. - Jerry

This is a late comment, but for anyone checking the archives.... I'm glad that Bryant holds this opinion. It was always a stumbling point for me that those who may not have heard of Jesus, might not be saved, and some preachers do not make provision for God's justice and mercy. God is just, merciful, and he is in control. He is also all knowing and all powerful. He knows in advance what someone's choices will be in every situation they might be put in. He gives us free will, but also makes sure we have ample opportunity to make the right choice. As it says in Acts 17: "...he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live. God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us."

God gives us a certain amount of light, and if we respond, we receive more light. So, when it is time to be judged, no one will be surprised--even those who never knew of Jesus. "For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities--his eternal power and divine nature--have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. Romans 1:20. - RickY
