"He who loves money will not be satisfied with money, nor he who loves abundance with its income." - Ecclesiastes 5:10

Are you bullish or bearish? Is the Federal Reserve on the right track or not? When you think about the Dow Jones, is it buy or sell? Hold or liquidate? As important as financial advice from Wall Street is, there's a more reliable place to gain understanding on managing our money. That place is the Bible. Amazingly, Jesus speaks more about money and possessions than He does about heaven or hell.

The problem is, we don't want to do it God's way. God's way says to give and share and provide for those who have less. It's advice diametrically opposed to what human reason tells us--to get, to keep, to hoard. God's way is to spend less than we earn. The world's way is to build up that debt. Charge it, baby!

Face it. The best financial planner is the Creator of the world. Why not learn what He has to say about managing money and then try it His way? It's always best.

Just for the record - the Fed is on the wrong track! (Couldn't help myself)

Anyway - My wife and I listened to God's word and finally elimanated all credit card debt about 6 months ago. Man - talk about a feeling of freedom! And once we learned to say "no" to a few things, it just got easier and easier. - Austin

Austin, I agree with you, what a relief when you get out from under that stress. At the moment all I owe on is my home and it looks like I am about to have to buy another vehicle. I just wish cars didn't wear out so quickly. Have a blessed day - Jerry

I have just recently started down this path and have a long way to go. I need the prayers of this community for strength and to learn to turn control of this area of my life over to God. - John

my husband and i have to fix up our home. so, we do a little bit at a time. and then we pay that off 1st, before we jump into another project. that's what we do, and so far, it's working. we also put money into our savings account every pay check for emergency. but we are also doing stock thru the company we work with, and i'm not sure if that's what God wants us to do or not. that money has saved us in the past and it looks as though it may again (we need a new computer). so, is it ok to have stock? if anyone has any advice, i'll be willing to hear! thanks. - susan

Susan, I think the main thing is to not let money become your master. The parable of the talents gives us several examples of how to live, one of which, I believe, is to invest wisely. Another is to be good stewards with what God gives us. He tells us to tithe. He says what ever we do unto the least of these we do unto Him so we should help those less fortunate.

My wife and I started tithing years ago. We were already spending more than we made. Thank goodness for tax returns. There was no way it was going to last very long but we said if anybody can make it work, God can. We did it expecting a miracle. That's exactly what we got. Since that day we have never missed one opportunity to give not only our tithe but even more and have been blessed beyond belief.

"Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you." Matt. 6:33 - Keith R.

Isn't it amazing how much better life can be if we follow the basic teaching of the bible. Last year at 51 yrs old we were able to pay off our home mortgage and don't have other credit debt. We have been extremely blessed financially, but pray for
God's guidance in even our smallest decisions in every aspect of life. - Christ Follower
