Parenting Children Aug 10 2007
"You shall teach them to your sons, talking of them when you sit...when you walk...when you lie down and when you rise up." - Deuteronomy 11:19
The first stage of parenting children in the home is the preschool years. The second stage is the childhood years, ages six through twelve. During these years, parents should practice the baton principle: in a relay race, the most important time is the passing of the baton. If it's dropped, the race is lost. Parenting children in the home means passing the baton of Godly values to the next generation.
God's Word teaches us as parents to love God with all our heart, soul, and might, and to diligently teach the commands of God to our children when we sit in our house, when we walk by the way, when we lie down, and when we rise up. We need to teach our kids how to live as we go about everyday life; in short, our kids need to see that our faith in God is real and consistent. This calls for a lot of love for God and for our children. But when done well, the baton of Godly values is handed off to the new generation.

Yes, report it NevermindThe only baton in the Bible is the one we are instructed over and over to use to beat our children. Sometimes God's word should be ignored.

Yes, report it NevermindI love that you're teaching on parenting. Parents really need to hear the truth on this subject. It's such an important responsibility God has given us, and to "drop the baton" would be a very sad thing. We need to follow God's truth and train our children for the glory and admonition of the Lord! Thank you for speaking God's truth!!

Yes, report it NevermindErik: I say you should be ignored. All you do is come here to troll around and defame Christians and God. Get a life!

Yes, report it NevermindFlorian- Show me one post where I have "defamed" Christians or God. SHOW ME ONE. I point out errors, I point out inconsistencies, I point out those unpleasant little passages in the Bible that are conveniently overlooked in this smiling cherry-picked Jesus-is-all-ya-need gospel according to Hallmark. If that is your definition of "defaming" then I guess I'm guilty.

Yes, report it NevermindYour first post is a classic example of defaming God--by saying His word should be ignored. God doesn't allow for errors in His word. If you want to dibble-dabble here in order to get a rise out of some of us so you can convince yourself that the Bible and God are just frauds you've come to the wrong place. Go somewhere else and convene with other doubters and non-believers. We don't cherry pick our scripture. You should know that since obviously most of these passages make you uncomfortable.
