Obedience - The Better Choice Oct 26 2012
"Whoever has my commands and keeps them is the one who loves me. The one who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love them and show myself to them.” - John 14:21 NIV
Is Jesus saying we've got to earn the love of God by being good? Remember, when we study the Word of God we always want to look at Scripture in light of Scripture. There's no doubt that we are saved by faith alone. But there's also no doubt that the way that we prove we are really saved is how we obey God willingly. Think about it this way. It's not like God doesn't love bad little boys and girls, because God loves everyone. For instance, as a loving parent, you love your children no matter what they do. If they're bad, you still love them. But when that child consistently obeys you, you appreciate that child even more! Why? Because that child is saying, "I trust you enough to do what you're asking me to do!" Life is better for them, and for you, when they do.
It's the same way with God. God loves all of us even when we're bad. But God surely does love it more when we're obedient to Him. Because God knows that when we trust Him, we really do love Him! He desires that, as any parent would.

Yes, report it NevermindReminds me of the AT&T commercial on TV - the mother and father admiring their little girl on ballet video, only to reply that she is now in "timeout" when one asked where she is at that moment.

Yes, report it NevermindAmen!
In Chuck Swindoll's book "Perfect Trust" he tells the reader to make a list of how we feel loved by our children and then apply that to our relationship with our Heavenly Father.
For example:
We feel love when our children obey us and not argue;
when they help without being told;
when they get along with each other and not fight;
when they sing, it indicates a happy heart and brings a smile to the parent;
when they take walks with us and talk with us;
when they sit in silence with us and just be;
when they call me "momma/papa" (Abba)
when they show appreciation and say thank you; etc.
He tells us to get in the habit of praying daily for the grace to behave like a child of God!

Yes, report it NevermindI am always reminded that I can do nothing more to earn God's love for me. However, as His child I must please Him by striving to obey His commands, written or otherwise - with His continual empowerment. This is my reasonable response to His love.

Luther wrote:(from memory) "Let goods and Kindred Go--This Mortal Life Also. The Body they may Kill...God's Truth Abideth Still...And He must Win the Battle..."
Have you ever gone Eyeball to Eyeball with Lucifer? The only way you will know if that is Happened really is if you sit in The Dust and Scrape the Boils off your Body with a Broken Dish.
Back in my Younger days the First Ex went racing to the Rental Datsun while those Buffalo grazed right past me. They were so close I could photo an Eyeball with a 180ED on the Body of an F2.
Great Big Huge Animals...So Close I could reach out and just touch them. The ground kind of Rattled when they tore the Grass from it. Everybody was running--I just looked and Snapped and Laughed(at the people running).
Then there was the Bull Moose who came Prancing into the Highland Meadow--Began to Whistle--Well she went diving for The Tent. I just stood there and Laughed.
Then there is Lucifer...A Great Client of Mine said one day..."Go look into that Full Length Mirror and you will See the Boogie Man."
No that was just me...
So we try to Play with The Devil? Let me tell you something Guys...You don't want to go there. He is as Brutal as a Grizzly Moma protecting her Cub...and Smart?
"His Craft and Power are Great--and Armed with Cruel Hate...On Earth is not His Equal..."
Now I am not a Neo-Evangelical. But I can tell you this: He comes to Kill, Steal and Destroy. Maybe like me some of you have Come Eyeball to Eyeball.

Yes, report it Nevermind"Eyeball to eyeball with Lucifer". :-) I like that.
You don't have that happen, unless he "had you" and your trying to get away. It's a battle that you cannot win alone. He's too strong. It takes the Spirit to strengthen and sustain you.
Those bison are big ugly critters aren't they? Had one so close that his breath was fogging my car window.

And they sat there for Seven Days without saying a Word...
You know sometimes we just need Friends...People who have seen what we have been through to just Sit Down and Shut Up.
But if they give us good advice? We turn and Bite Them--It is not good for us to do that.

They are Gentle Giants...all they wanted was their Green Pastures and then to Lie Down. Which they did! We can learn something from those Buffalo...
