Finding Yourself Aug 16 2012
"For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?" - Matthew 16:26
Do you feel like you really have found yourself? What’s the ultimate meaning for your life? Why do you exist? Let’s take a look at some ways people try to find the answers to these questions.
We live in a very driven culture, and most successful people set some kind of GOALS about what they want to accomplish. But here’s an amazing thing: if we set goals just for the purpose of achievement or success, very often we can reach those goals, and still feel empty inside. So, you find yourself wondering again, “I’ve achieved what I sought out to do. What now?” Goal setting isn’t the answer.
EDUCATION is another way to find meaning. Now, we know education can enrich our understanding of life. But speaking with a couple of men that graduated high in their class at MIT, even though they had incredible academic success, they still felt empty inside. Education isn’t the answer.
Then there is WORK, and when you pour yourself into your work, you do understand more about yourself. That’s part of why God has created us - part of how we can have a meaningful life is to be engaged in meaningful work. But work isn’t the answer, because even when you’re successful at work, you can still be empty.
Could it be RELATIONSHIPS with friends, family members, and co-workers? I think we’re getting close. While all of these relationships are important, you truly find yourself when you are in the ultimate relationship with Jesus Christ. It’s the only relationship that counts and the real key in finding your reason for living.

Yes, report it NevermindJane,
Today I had the blessed opportunity to give my testimony to my own 25 year old daughter. Such a poignant moment as we talked about the giving of forgiveness that can often be so difficult--to ourselves; I explained to her that my quest is to honor God, and that I'd finally come to understand that to do that, to honor His sacrifice, I must accept His great gift. It was such a sweet moment in time as she and I talked.
I had posted a link to this site before and tonight felt drawn to it again. Why now...only God knows. I heard Amy Grant sing Carry You today: I weary watching while you struggle on your own...just call my name, and I'll come. All I can say is: Keep calling on Him sister...
