How Good Is Good Enough? Aug 12 2012

"If, however, you are fulfilling the royal law according to the Scripture, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself," you are doing well." - James 2:8

Question: How good is good enough?

The best basketball coach I ever had was a guy I felt I could never completely satisfy. He was demanding. He taught me more about basketball than anybody else, but it never seemed to be quite good enough. Maybe you’ve had a coach like that. It motivated you. You wanted to do better, but you just weren’t sure you could ever be good enough. Maybe some of you have a boss like that now, a supervisor. No matter what you do, no matter how hard you work, you still wonder to yourself, “How good is good enough?”

Well, the fact is, everybody, at some point in your life, has wondered that question about God. And some of you are hopeful that perhaps if the good of your life outweighs the bad of your life that God will grade on the curve when that day comes and you’re finally face to face with Him. But some of you are wondering, really, how good is good enough?

If you and I are fulfilling God’s royal law, we are doing a good thing. But we wonder how good is good enough? Well, this is key. We are to fulfill the royal law of God. So, what exactly does God’s Word mean by the royal law? The first part of the royal law is to recognize it is only through faith in Jesus Christ that we will ever see God in the first place. It also is the supreme law in human relationships given to us by the King of all kings - that is Jesus Christ! And that royal law is contained in what is called Christ’s Great Commandment. “You shall love the Lord your God will all your heart, soul, and mind. And you shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

Ask Jesus to become Lord of your life and love your neighbor as yourself. Now, that’s good enough.

See that is The Deal right there...But the Thing is? Never forget this: Your Neighbor is a Sinner Too.

So don't expect any Grand and Glorious Thank You's. If they know you are a Sinner but you love them any Old Ways?

But I am a Sinner and You are a Sinner.

They will take Advantage of That. Expect That. You Know there are Basketball Courts and Football and Baseball Fields all over JFBC.

It is Amazing to me how much Better you All Are.

See after the Toss and Draw...Those are The Cards. You have to Play them as they Fall.

My little Neighbor next door? I ssked him to take a few more Swipes on his Riding Mower...He said he would but then kept his Property Line Intact.

So even though he is a Good Dad and Husband? I know what kind of Person he really is.

Just like Me...

For the second part of the Royal Law to worth anything, you have to at like/love yourself. Think about that. :-)

I understand what you are saying Grant and appreciate your Comment and Smile with You.

But you know what? Sometimes people want to allow us to serve them just so we can Recognize their Love and Respect for us There is No Good Thing in me and I know it.

To be Worth anything? Heck my former Dad has told me Story after Story of the People he Respected the Most who claimed they were Less than Nothing.

My real Dad risked his Life for Years to Save Others.

You know I see all you Guys out here and it just Amazes me. It makes me Overflow with Joy. Look how the Gals are Lighting Up and getting some Fire in their Gut.

I am going to tell you this: I love both my Former Wives and my Children and this Ex Dad in Law of Mine. And I love Bryant and I may not be around this time next year?

But it isn't about Me.
