Does America Still Have Any Values? Aug 06 2012

“In those days there was no king in Israel; everyone did what was right in his own eyes.” - Judges 21:25

People are always saying Americans don’t have any values. Well, nothing could be further from the truth. Americans are passionate about their values. Republicans and Democrats battle it out in congress over values of the budget and spending and debt.

There is a passion throughout America about values concerning what is right when it comes to the use of money in our government. We see pro-life groups and pro-choice groups—very opposite in their view about abortion. But one thing that is absolutely true, both groups are passionate about their values. So, you see, it is absurd to say that America no longer has values.

But here is the concern. Which values are right? Values given to us by our Creator make the most sense. We can learn those values from God’s word and we can see His Word lived out perfectly in one man. Jesus. Trust and follow Him and He’ll empower you to live out Godly values.

Amen Pastor.

Sadly, according to Scripture, the battle over values will continue and get worse as we approach end times. The attacks on Christians will become more frequent and more virulent. We will need to encourage one another constantly.

I think this is a great devotion! Thanks so much! It just seems so hard to distinguish between what values are Godly values and which are not. Judy brought up a great example. I support that Chick-Fil-A is based on christion principals and I was happy to see the support they got from communities all of the country during their appreciation day. However, they also mentioned that they would not hire or serve indiviudals with homosexual tendencies. Is that being a good christian? If they are going that far, will they stop hiring or serving anyone who isn't a christian? What do we do if our values seem to be conflicting with each other?
