Understanding Our Wives Aug 05 2012

"You husbands likewise, live with your wives in an understanding way, as with a weaker vessel, since she is a woman; and grant her honor as a fellow heir of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered." - 1 Peter 3:7

It had been a fun day of vacation. I got up early and jogged on the beach, joined some friends for a round of golf, had time for a couple of sets of tennis and finished off the day with a refreshing swim in the ocean. After showering and dressing for dinner, I happily exclaimed to my wife, "Man, it's been a great day!" But the look she gave me was not filled with love. You see, our boys were young - one still in diapers. In classic "airhead husband style," I had been oblivious to the needs of my wife.

God's Word says, "Husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way." We don't naturally understand the needs of our wives when we are wrapped up in our own little worlds. Understanding means love, unselfishness, compassionate listening without giving advice, partnering in parenting, and much, much more.

Men, ask God to help you be what you just can't be on your own - understanding of your wife.

Yes and so true. I have to bite my lip sometimes and not try to "fix" everything or give advice. Listening is so important to the dear ladies.

It would definitely been rough around my household, if my husband took off for day of playing gold and tennis and playing at the beach, while I stayed home with "littleones." It would take more than "understanding and listening!" It's just not right to do that in the first place! Maybe get a sitter and you do that together or you be the sitter and let her off for a day!

Heck Nancy:

First Wife would go fly three days a week once my Daughter was Bottle-Broken at Twelve Months. Would have Clients say: "Is that a Baby in your Office?"

Yes she would be sitting in that Little Battery Operated Swing.

Second Wife would go with her Parents all over the World for Weeks at a time and leave me there to take care of Things.

When my Son came to live with me in 07? There was not a Single Person on this Planet I could depend on to Rest Me for Weeks and Weeks at a Time.

And they Wonder why I am just Shot and Worn Out...

If you are Married with Kids? You are Married with Kids. That is just the way it is--the Child-support laws changed in 07 and you are Both Responsible.

Cling Together or Go Through Hell.
