Mother's Day May 13 2012

"Her children arise and call her blessed." - Proverbs 31:28a

I never get tired of hearing or reading the unique answers that kids give to questions they are asked. And kids start to develop some pretty interesting perceptions of the world at an early age. Here are answers some second-graders gave when asked about their mothers:

Q: Why did God make mothers?
A: To help us out of there when we were getting born.

Q: What ingredients are mothers made of?
A: God makes mothers out of clouds and angel hair and everything nice in the world, and one dab of mean.

Q: Why did God give you your mother and not some other mom?
A: God knew she likes me a lot more than other people's moms like me.

Q: What did mom need to know about dad before she married him?
A: She had to know his background. Like is he a crook? Does he get drunk on beer? Does he make at least $800 a year? Did he say “NO” to drugs and “YES” to chores?

Q: What does your mom do in her spare time?
A: Mothers don't do spare time.

Q: If you could change one thing about your mom, what would it be?
A: I would like for her to get rid of those invisible eyes on the back of her head.

While they may not have it all figured out yet, they do know how important their mothers are in their lives. As these kids can tell you, motherhood is the toughest, most demanding, and important job in the world. With the many choices for women today, let's not forget that there is no calling of God more important than being a mom.
