Hope For The Sinner Apr 26 2012

"I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin." - John 8:34

Have you ever noticed that sin has a way of multiplying in a person's life? The Bible paints a very graphic picture of a person who becomes entrapped by his own sin. It says, "And he will be held with cords of his sin." Now what does that mean?

Have you ever seen a little bug caught in a spider's web? The more that bug struggles to become free, the more entangled in the web it becomes. That's what this verse is talking about. The person is trapped by his sin, and even when he comes to his senses and recognizes the need to change, he cannot escape by his own strength. He just gets more tangled.

But there's hope for the person caught in his sin. We can all be free from bondage by admitting our sin to God and giving Him control of our life through Jesus Christ. Only He can untangle us from the tangled web of sin that we weave!

Most of the Church teaches that we are sinners who will sin again. Few teach that we should reckon ourselves dead to sin (Romans 6:11). God can back up His word in our experience if we will rely on it. What does your Church teach you regarding sin?

Love is more important than faith.

With out faith it is impossible to love the right way, for God is LOVE!

Ok... I will ask it again, "how many reckon themselves dead to sin?"

I do, in the sense that Paul meant it in Romans 6.

I agree with you Grant, I do also. It is not that I think I am any better than anyone else, I just serve a God who is able to provide me with an escape route when sin pops up in my path. It is up to me as to which direction I choose to go, God's way or Satan's way. Just like the woman taken in adultry, Christ said unto her "go and sin no more." Did he mean we can live above sin, yes we can, with His help, but I believe in that passage he was saying go and do not do that sin again.
Have a blessed day

I have tried to comment on here several times but it just wouldn't let my post come thru. I am still saved and excited about going to heaven one day. I would love to know that Eric will be going also, hopefully one day he can say it too.
