A Witness to the Glory of God! Oct 07 2011
"...but he has told me, ‘My grace is all you need, because my power is perfected in weakness. Therefore, I will most happily boast about my weaknesses, so that the Messiah's power may rest on me.'" - 2 Corinthians 12:9
When reminded that God does not give us any burdens we cannot handle, Mother Teresa replied, "I know, but sometimes I just wish He didn't think so highly of me." While it’s true that tough times can challenge us and shape character, most of us would prefer that God would find another teaching method!
While hitting rock bottom is not fun, crises do offer opportunities for growth and service. For instance, sometimes God allows us to go through hard times so that we can learn to truly trust Him. You see, when we do choose to trust God – even when there is no concrete evidence of His presence - we demonstrate real faith. And that faith is not only demonstrated to God, it is a powerful witness to everyone who sees what you have gone through. Look at the example shown by Joseph. After thirteen years of miserable setbacks, the first thing he did was to stand before Pharaoh and share his testimony of his faith in God. What a magnificent witness to the glory of God!
So, when facing tough times, recognize the opportunity you have to build trust in God, deepen your faith, and become a powerful witness for your Heavenly Father.

Yes, report it NevermindWow,Again !!! Once again you have a verse for me 2Cor 12:9 that means so much to me it brings a tear to my eye. I believe every verse in the Bible gives us another chance to experience God's Love for us through reading it.There are for me some verses that have come to be for me what I call "Experiential" as in when one experiences the power of the verse one discovers it's deeper meaning and how it can and does apply to ones life in a more real and meaningful way. For me this verse will always bring a tear to my eye, truth be told I cry like a baby reading and remembering when this verse came alive for me.I was living in a Christ centered,Faith Based Rehab and it was time for me to get that all important first job after living there for the past 90 days rent and responsibility free. The day had come for me to step out of the safety of that place and back into the real world.Well every morning I had my routine,Bible reading,Prayer time, meditation and journaling. This morning I did not read that verse but in my Journal God was telling me "Let your weakness be your strength" I was pretty sure that was not what the bible said exactly and made a note to look it up when I got back from my job search.Long story short,I went and applied at a boat shop my Pastor had seen a now hiring sign in front of.The lady doing the application and interview process asked me about my availability for work hours.I had already seen the bus schedule and rout and knew that I would need to leave there about 15 minutes early every day to make it back to the facility on time which was very important and mandatory for everyone to circle up around the dinner table every evening with praise reports and prayer request followed by the evening meal.Well I just kinda froze for a second and then blurted out that I would work when ever they needed me but would have to leave early to make it back to "REHAB" on time...I knew it was coming, the "Thank you we will get back to you" line...Well to my surprise she said no problem can you start in the morning? Naturally I said yes and off I went back to Open Homes. That night I had a praise report that I had gotten a job at the first place I tried and thought that was the end of the story Thank You Jesus!! But it wasn't until the next day that 2Cor 12:9 came alive and I understood what God had meant in my journal.I showed up for work and the lady that had hired me pulled me aside and quietly shared with me that the owner of the boat shop would not have hired me if he had known about my situation so we should keep it between us as it does not really matter in the long run,But the reason she had hired me knowing this,is that she had been praying for her husband to turn his life around, seek help for his addiction, and start to come to church with her and was hoping that God would show her a sign or something to encourage her to get him some help. Her words ring in my heart today, she said.."I hired you BECAUSE you are in recovery" that's when it clicked and I came to know what it means to not only read a verse but to experience it in it's full power.... THE WORD IS ALIVE
