Fourth of July Jul 04 2011
"Do you see a man wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him." - Proverbs 26:12
The 4th of July is a time to reflect on the privileges and responsibilities of being an American. But this is not an easy day for America when it comes to values, the breakdown of the family, materialism, sexual immorality, crime.
I propose that our problem isn't that Americans don't care. People care passionately about what they feel is right but, therein lies the problem! We seem determined to do what we feel is right in our own eyes. But we are incapable of doing what is right on our own, no matter how well intentioned. This is why God gave us the Bible, to teach us His perfect ways.
We must stop trying to do what is right in our own eyes and begin doing what is right in God's eyes. It's the key to God blessing America. And that's something we all need to consistently pray for.
