Let the Good Times Roll Jul 22 2007
"Come now, I will test you with pleasure to find out what is good. But that also proved to be meaningless." - Ecclesiastes 2:1
Jerry Seinfeld, that famous philosopher of the nineties, has said, "Everybody is looking for good sex, good food, and a good laugh because they are little islands of relief in what's often a very painful existence." Does that describe you?
Constantly seeking pleasure will mean finding life empty and unfulfilling. Look at the gurus of pleasure such as Madonna, now a mother, and Hugh Hefner, who tried marriage and having children. Obviously their actions speak volumes about the fact that pursuit of pleasure alone does not bring the sense of fulfillment in life that so many desire.
Here's the shocker - seeking pleasure without God always leads to emptiness and futility. To really experience the joy and fulfillment of living, we have to plant both feet firmly with God. Trust Him and do things His way. It's the key to enjoying life!

Yes, report it NevermindThis is epidemic in our society, as I see it. Parents and children alike seeking more pleasure, more fun, more escapes from the pain of life. Then the emptiness when it is over. But only to seek the next pleasure of bigger or greater porportion. Thank you for the insight and Word from Solomon........the pattern of lottery winners lives, is a great example of this lived out as well.

Yes, report it NevermindAnd do you know why Micah? The percentage of advertising, sitcoms, music videos, kid shows, and the list goes on all deal with this subject to sale their products. We have to be very careful!

Yes, report it NevermindWell said Stephen but I also want to say that because we don't want to be bombarded by it, doesn't make us prude. Sex is an important part of our lives and it's human nature. However, when it is abused and used for wrong reasons, it's not a beautiful thing anymore. It loses the meaning that was intended. It becomes something that destroys relationships, inner souls and our relationship with Jesus Christ. What could be worse than that?
